seda-crop is a component of Seda's Enhancements, introduced in SE6.

Purpose

Remove black bars from the top and bottom of a video.
For example, some online videos will include black bars to provide a widescreen or cinematic experience when played on a non-widescreen monitor, but when using an actual widescreen monitor this reduces the size of the picture on screen. This will attempt to remove them but may take some time to process longer videos.

Requirements

Note that this script requires a powerful workstation to perform within reasonable time frames - if you have an older system, it will still work (going back to 2005) but will take considerably longer - possibly hours. A processor from 2015 or later is recommended.

Media Archive & Playback → Convert Media → Autocrop Video

Terminal

Run it from the terminal and state the filename you want to crop using

seda-crop "(filename without bracket)"
